Now that I had decided on what I would like to for my social media, I therefore took a further look into how social media was used by other photographers to get a better understanding of how they market towards their consumers and the type of content that they post. An account that stood out to me due to the way content was displayed was jpr.photos on Instagram, which had utilised this social media as best as possible. This includes the likes of stories/highlights alongside posting on a regular basis. Therefore, this made me understand how vital it is to post and engage with followers regularly whether this is through posts or highlights to get the best out of my account as possible. This account has over 600 posts, and is themed in an engaging way with sections of a variety of posts having the same colour tone. In each post the location of where the photograph was taken had been tagged alongside a simplistic caption giving a brief insight into the whereabouts of the photograph also. Alongside travel photography, I wanted to add in some animal photography too, an account on Instagram that I looked into was animal_photography_wwf, although there is no clear theme to how images are placed it is more about showing off the beautiful animals of the world.

I used the name 'Beth Christopher Photography' for my accounts as it is simple and means what it says. 'A brand’s name is one of the most foundational elements of brand identity, helping establish and maintain a unique presence in the minds of customers and other key audiences.' (Voeller, 2018) I believe that my brand does fit into this quote as it establishes what it is. Another thing that I noted is the way that photography accounts use their Instagram bio's, these mostly tell their location, other social media's and an email for enquires which is something I would use when creating my own brand to make myself as approachable as possible.

I then looked further into how photography websites were created, many were very simplistic with only a portfolio, about section and contact section. This in a way let the photography do the talking rather than using words, having a well designed and easy to navigate website helps build a relationship with consumers and follow the brand on other social media platforms. Having a website is key to a brand as it provides the vital information and in this case allows consumers to see previous pieces of work, therefore making the brand more established as a whole.

The use of Instagram stories can help me connect to my consumers, whether this is to let them know about my other social media accounts or to show what camera I use to take my photographs, by doing this I will be using as many features that Instagram provide on their stories.
